7. "The Shipston Cock"
"The Shipston Cock" - 02 - Retired Racer
This pigeon is one of my favorites in the loft. When you look at his results you may think whats so special about him but you have to consider that it was as a broken pigeon he gained these results, and a broken pigeon that never came to his new home first. Ettington is approximately 6 miles east of Stratford upon Avon where he was raced to as a youngster. As a broken pigeon he would never put a foot wrong every training session always coming straight home but once he was in the basket over night he would always return home to Stratford, where my neighbour, who took an interest in the pigeons, would wave a broom at him before he would turn back to Ettington. Had he come home in a straight line he would have won every race listed below, my distances to Stratford were approximately 2 miles longer than in Ettington plus the extra 6 mile east to west. Quite incredible really. I have posted some of his sons results to also show his breeding quality. The feather quality of this pigeon is unreal.
